Description:
The Longitudinal Inelastic Gel Liner is a soft interface placed between the prosthetic socket and the residual limb. Its primary functions are to provide secure suspension, outstanding protection for the limb, and enhanced prosthetic control. Constructed from a viscous gel bonded to a longitudinal, non-stretch or limited-stretch fabric, the liner minimizes vertical pistoning of the residual limb inside the socket, thereby increasing stability and comfort. The high-adhesion gel conforms intimately to the limb surface, creating a reliable suspension that prevents the prosthesis from slipping during ambulation. Additionally, the gel absorbs both vertical and shear impacts, reducing pressure on the skin and safeguarding sensitive areas and scar tissue, which lowers the risk of skin breakdown. Overall, this design elevates wearing comfort, improves gait, and enhances the user’s experience, making it a prosthetic component that seamlessly blends functionality with comfort.
